Sturgeon Trips

Sturgeon fishing runs all year long, but Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are the only days open for retention of keeper size Sturgeon.  The best time for a keeper size is from Jan 1st to April 30th.  Weather is usually cold so warm clothes are a must.

There are 2 places I like to fish - below Bonneville Dam and the Lower Willamette.  We can fish 4 or 5 people per group.  With 4 rods, we average about 100 fish a day.

Oversize Sturgeon- This starts on June 1st and runs through July. The average size fish is a whopping 7 feet long and can get as big as 11 feet. The biggest fish we caught in 2004 was  10.5 feet long. Weather is generally warmer but the wind can blow pretty hard.
